The court case involving popular actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lil Win, has hit a snag as the prosecution awaits guidance from the Attorney General’s (AG’s) office.
Lil Win was arraigned in court on June 3, 2024, following a fatal accident involving his vehicle, which claimed the life of a three-year-old boy. He was charged with dangerous driving, negligently causing harm, and using an unregistered branded car.
However, when the case was called on Thursday, June 27, the prosecution revealed that they had sent the docket to the AG’s department for study and advice.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Emelia Owusu Ansah, told the court that the AG’s guidance was necessary to proceed with the case.
The court has subsequently adjourned the case to July 29, 2024, pending the receipt of the AG’s advice.
Lil Win was released on a GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties on June 3 and is expected to return to court on July 29.
The actor’s legal team is yet to comment on the development, but sources close to the team indicate that they are monitoring the situation closely.
The accident, which occurred on May 25, 2024, at Amakom in the Ashanti Region, sparked widespread outrage and calls for the actor to be held accountable.
The prosecution’s decision to seek the AG’s guidance has raised questions about the strength of the case against Lil Win, but the police have assured that they are committed to ensuring justice is served.
The case has been adjourned until July 29, and the public is eagerly awaiting the outcome.
