A heartbroken wife, Madam Vicentia Aboagyewaa, is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and state authorities to investigate the sudden death of her husband, Mr. Yaw Harrison, an electrician and father of two, who allegedly died under suspicious circumstances at the Dodowa DOVVSU office in the Greater Accra Region.
According to Madam Aboagyewaa, her husband was falsely accused by a neighbor of stealing GHS3,500, bread, and attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl.
Despite his protests of innocence, Mr. Harrison was arrested and detained in police cells for three days, exacerbating his pre-existing high blood pressure condition.
After his release, Mr. Harrison reported to the Dodowa DOVVSU office as requested, but tragically collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Madam Aboagyewaa is demanding answers and justice for her husband’s untimely death, alleging that the police’s handling of the case contributed to his demise.
The family is seeking a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Harrison’s death and appropriate action against those responsible.
This incident has raised concerns about police procedures, detainee welfare, and the need for accountability within the justice system. As the family mourns their loss, they await a response from the authorities, hoping for truth and justice to prevail.
