E.L, Ghana’s rap icon, has made a triumphant return with the much-anticipated seventh volume of his acclaimed BAR (Best African Rapper) mixtape series.
Aptly titled “BAR 7,” this latest installment marks a significant milestone in E.L’s illustrious career, reflecting a decade of artistic evolution and mastery.
After a three-year hiatus since the release of “BAR 6,” E.L has re-emerged with “BAR 7,” a project that not only upholds the series’ high standards but elevates them.
Recorded over the past year across three studio albums and subjected to meticulous quality control, this new mixtape showcases E.L’s continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of African rap.
The album arrives with a bang, featuring standout singles like the intense ‘BAR 7 Intro’—which comes with a visually striking video—and the bass-heavy Trap anthem ‘Chakido.’
E.L’s collaboration with nine producers, including himself, ensures a rich and varied soundscape that promises to captivate both long-time fans and newcomers alike.
Among the highlights of “BAR 7” is the track ‘Boogieman,’ which sees a return collaboration with Lyrical Joe, reminiscent of their previous hit ‘Dracula.’ Another notable track, ‘IDGAF,’ featuring Kobi Onyame and Tradey, blends smooth, high-energy beats with memorable verses.
The album also features the nostalgic ‘HipHop,’ produced by Altra Nova, which pays homage to early 2000s Hip-Hop vibes, and ‘One Ghana Guy,’ a vibrant track with African Dancehall legend Samini.
E.L’s production prowess is evident throughout the album, with him contributing six tracks, including the gripping ‘Delilah,’ featuring emerging star AratheJay, and the introspective ‘Tracy.’
Other collaborations include the reflective ‘Pray’ with German-Ghanaian singer Jean Feier, and ‘One of Us,’ featuring Nana Grenade and Kev the Topic.
As E.L continues to redefine the rap genre with “BAR 7,” this mixtape stands as a testament to his growth and dedication over the past decade. It’s a project that not only celebrates his past achievements but also sets the stage for his future endeavors.
