At the Vegandale Festival in New York, Ghanaian superstar KiDi experienced an underwhelming reception from the crowd during his performance.
Despite delivering a medley of his popular songs, the audience appeared largely disinterested, paying little attention to the award-winning artist.
KiDi, known for his energetic stage presence and string of hit songs, performed with his usual enthusiasm.
However, the crowd at the festival barely responded, showing little to no excitement during his set.
For the most part, the audience seemed disengaged, with only a few people recording parts of the performance on their phones.
While these isolated recordings indicated some interest, the majority of festival-goers seemed unimpressed, giving off a sense of boredom.
This response was a stark contrast to the energy and attention KiDi is accustomed to receiving at his performances, particularly back in Ghana where he is celebrated as one of the leading figures in the Afrobeat scene.
Though KiDi continued to perform with the same passion and energy he’s known for, the lukewarm reception highlights the challenges international artists can sometimes face when performing to new and unfamiliar crowds.
The incident serves as a reminder that winning over an audience in a foreign setting, especially one unfamiliar with an artist’s work, can be tough—even for a well-established star like KiDi.
