Ghanaian TikToker Deaconess Abokoma has addressed ongoing accusations surrounding his sexuality, which have surfaced due to his choice of attire in his TikTok videos.
Known for wearing women’s clothing, Abokoma has faced widespread speculation that he might be gay.
During a recent interview with ZionFelix, Abokoma firmly denied these claims, dismissing them as baseless. He challenged those who accuse him to engage with him directly, sarcastically suggesting they could “test” their assumptions about his sexuality.
Abokoma also revealed that such accusations are not new to him, as he’s faced similar rumours before. In addition to the verbal attacks, he shared that someone even threatened to harm him once Ghana’s anti-LGBTQ+ bill is enacted into law.
Despite the growing backlash and looming threats, Deaconess Abokoma remains unfazed. He continues to wear women’s clothes in his TikTok videos, maintaining his unique style and creative expression amidst the criticism.
Ghana’s parliament has passed a tough new bill that imposes a prison sentence of up to three years for anyone convicted of identifying as LGBTQ+ in February 2024.
It also imposes a maximum five-year jail term for forming or funding LGBTQ+ groups. However, it is yet to be assented to by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
