Nollywood actress Iniobong Edo has opened up about her evolving views on marriage, revealing that it no longer holds the same importance for her as it once did. During an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES monitored by News & Vibes, she discussed her current outlook on life, particularly in relation to relationships and personal fulfillment.
Earlier in September, Iniobong stirred up a wave of excitement and speculation when she shared a picture of herself dressed in a traditional Efik bridal outfit.
Many fans believed she was hinting at a wedding, especially with her caption that spoke about love and encouraged people not to lose hope in finding joy.
However, it soon became clear that the bridal post was a teaser for her upcoming project, a four-part series titled My Fairytale Wedding.
The series focuses on the life of a young woman who uses magical means, specifically Kayanmata, to win the affection of Lagos’ most sought-after bachelor.
Once her fans realized it was simply a promotion for the series and not a real-life event, the initial buzz around her personal life settled down.
The 42-year-old actress has been candid about her views on marriage following her own experiences.
She was previously married to Nigerian-American businessman Philip Ehiagwina, with their wedding taking place in November 2008 in the U.S. Unfortunately, the marriage came to an end in 2014.
When asked whether she still envisions a “fairytale wedding” in her future, Iniobong was clear in expressing that marriage is no longer a priority for her.
Instead, she is more focused on building meaningful relationships, without feeling the need to actively pursue or hope for marriage.
In 2021, Iniobong achieved her dream of becoming a mother through surrogacy, using her own eggs.
She expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to raise her daughter, describing motherhood as a deeply fulfilling experience.
Despite her personal decisions around marriage and family, she continues to focus on her career and personal growth, showing that fulfillment can come in many different forms.
