The Dance with Purpose Academy (DWP) has exposed a former member, Portia, for scamming innocent children and their parents.
According to a report by the DWP team, Portia had been deceiving families by posing as a representative of the dance group and collecting registration fees from them.
The scam involved Portia convincing children who wanted to join the dance group to pay a registration fee of 500GH¢ and above.
She would then assure the parents that the money was needed to secure their children’s spot in the group and even promised ambassadorial deals.
However, the truth came to light when the DWP team discovered that Portia had been pocketing the money, amounting to a staggering GH¢10k.
The DWP team has since taken swift action, banning Portia from the group and emphasizing that the only legitimate way to join the dance group is by walking in and paying a registration fee of 80GH¢.
They have also clarified that there is no online registration or mobile money number available for registration.
This incident serves as a warning to parents and guardians to be vigilant and verify the authenticity of requests for payment or personal information.
The DWP’s prompt response and transparency in exposing the scam demonstrate their commitment to protecting their members and maintaining a safe and trustworthy environment.
