Mzbel Criticises Sonnie Badu, Claims He’s More Businessman Than Pastor
Ghanaian singer and media personality Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has stirred controversy by questioning the authenticity of gospel musician Sonnie Badu’s pastoral calling. According to her, Sonnie Badu is not a genuine pastor but a businessman leveraging religion for financial gain.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mzbel claimed that many Ghanaian pastors, including Badu, have discovered that running a church can be a highly profitable business. She insisted that their focus lies more on personal gain than genuine spiritual leadership.
Mzbel further recounted an encounter where Sonnie Badu allegedly boasted about his achievements, comparing himself to popular dancehall artiste Shatta Wale. She expressed surprise at such behaviour, arguing that such displays of pride are unbecoming of someone claiming to be a man of God.
Her comments quickly drew mixed reactions from the public. While some netizens criticised her for attacking a religious figure, others sided with her, suggesting she was speaking hard truths about certain pastors’ motivations.
Sonnie Badu is yet to respond to Mzbel’s claims. However, the debate surrounding the intersection of religion and business in Ghana’s religious landscape continues to intensify.
