A serious accident on the Asamankese-Suhum road at Brekumanso could have turned catastrophic had it not been for the swift response of firefighters.
A Nissan Frontier veered off the road, crashed into a tree, and burst into flames, igniting a bushfire.
Firefighters from Asamankese, led by Station Officer II Aboagye Ernest, rushed to the scene, with backup from the Suhum Fire Station. Their quick intervention prevented the fire from spreading further, successfully bringing it under control by 13:45 hours.
Despite the severity of the crash and the complete destruction of the vehicle, all occupants—including the driver and a female passenger—escaped with minor injuries. They were treated at the Asamankese Government Hospital.
Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, commended the firefighters for their rapid response, emphasizing the need for continued investment in emergency services to handle such incidents effectively.
