A concerned Yeji native’s letter to President Mahama
9th May, 2026
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama
President of the Republic of Ghana
Jubilee House
Accra, Ghana
Dear Mr. President,
I write this letter with deep pain, disappointment, and concern as a proud son of Yeji. I am speaking not only for myself but for many ordinary people in our town whose voices are hardly heard.
Mr. President, the people of Yeji have remained loyal to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for many years. Through every election, we have stood firmly behind the party with hope that one day our town would also enjoy meaningful development like many other parts of Ghana. Sadly, that hope continues to fade.
Our roads have become a serious nightmare. The main road from Yeji to Atebubu is in a very terrible condition, full of dangerous potholes that continue to put the lives of drivers, passengers, traders, pregnant women, school children, and patients at risk every single day. Travelling on that road has become painful and frightening.
Within Yeji itself, our town roads are equally bad. During the rainy season, movement becomes difficult, while in the dry season, dust covers homes, shops, and schools. Yet, despite all these struggles, the people of Yeji have remained patient and loyal.
Mr. President, during your campaign, promises were made to fix our roads and improve our community. Almost two years into your administration, we have not seen any serious work going on. No visible progress. No hope for the ordinary people who trusted those promises.
Sometimes we ask ourselves painful questions:
Does Yeji truly matter?
Have our loyalty and votes been taken for granted?
Why must a town that has consistently supported the NDC continue to suffer neglect?
We are not asking for luxury. We are simply asking for fairness, attention, and development. Good roads are not a privilege; they are a necessity for economic growth, education, healthcare, and human dignity.
Mr. President, I humbly appeal to you to remember Yeji. Please let action speak louder than promises. Let the people of Yeji see that their loyalty and sacrifices are valued. The youth are losing hope, and many people feel forgotten.
As a concerned native of Yeji, I pray that this heartfelt appeal reaches your heart and moves your government to act urgently.
May God guide you in your leadership and help you serve all Ghanaians fairly.
Yours faithfully,
ALIMU MUNTALABI
