On Sunday, January 11, 2026, a vehicle accident at Mankrong near Suhum on the Accra–Kumasi Highway resulted in one fatality and 37 injuries of varied degrees.There are sixteen ladies and twenty-one males among the injured. The truck’s occupants were unharmed in the collision.A man-diesel truck with registration number GW 3969-U and a 40-seater Zhong Tong bus with registration number AS 7022-21 were involved in the collision.At the moment of the crash, both cars were moving.The Suhum Municipal Fire Station’s Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) claimed in a statement that it got a distress call at 06:59. At 0707 hours, firefighters arrived on the spot, and ADO II Bernard Boamah headed a rescue squad that collaborated with other emergency personnel to handle the situation.
While the injured were treated and taken to local medical facilities, such as the Suhum Government Hospital, the dead were removed from the debris. In order to guarantee the safe flow of traffic following the collision, firefighters also removed debris from the road. The rear of the truck had minimal damage, while the front of the bus was severely destroyed. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was speeding when it collided with the vehicle. At 08:57, firefighters departed the area and returned to base at 09:52. In the meantime, the Ghana National Fire Service has reminded drivers to closely follow traffic safety laws and reaffirmed its dedication to providing prompt, professional emergency service.
