A Look at Speaker Bagbin’s Apparel on Parliament’s Resumption

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, as Parliament reconvened on February 3, 2026.

The leader of the House appeared in a colourful traditional kente outfit with its marching ornaments.

His appearance is in the similitude of an Akan traditional leader.

Donning traditional outfits was adopted by the Speaker in 2022 when he first dressed like an Ewe chief.

This was after he promised to limit the wearing of suits and gowns during sittings in the House.

By leading the charge, Bagbin is encouraging fellow MPs to ditch suits for local attire, promoting the local economy and showcasing Ghana’s rich heritage.
