The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Atebubu-Amantin in the Bono East Region, Sanja Nanja, has stated that making healthcare accessible and basic in the constituency remains non-negotiable, particularly in advancing the government’s primary healthcare programme.
He made the remark when he equipped and operationalised the Seinti Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound with essential medical items and solar-powered electricity to improve healthcare.
The items donated included an examination bed, two blood pressure monitors, a delivery bed, an infrared thermometer, three hospital beds, 10 haemoglobin (HB) strips, two glucometers, 10 glucose strips, drip stands, 10 sterilising drums, 11 sterilising machines (181B), a Veronica bucket with stands, a pedal waste bin, a 50-inch television set and a vaccine refrigerator.
Alignment with policy
The intervention, carried out in collaboration with the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Thomas Masud Ayarba, aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s free primary healthcare programme launched last Wednesday.

Mr Nanja said the gesture was guided by the President’s vision to bring primary healthcare to the doorstep of every Ghanaian.
“I aim to retool all CHPS compounds in the constituency to enable residents to access healthcare easily,” he said.
He explained that although Seinti was connected to the national grid, the solar system was installed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
Mr Nanja said similar support had been extended to Garadima and Jato Zango last month.
He added that a dental chair had also been provided to the Atebubu Municipal Hospital to improve oral healthcare.
The MP urged health workers and residents to adopt a strong culture of maintenance and encouraged regular medical check-ups.
Mr Ayarba advised the youth to desist from drug abuse and underscored the importance of the facility to the government’s primary healthcare agenda.
Appreciation
Residents of Seinti expressed appreciation to the MP and the MCE for the intervention, describing it as timely and beneficial.
