According to Mr. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Minister of Transportation, Ghana’s planned national airline is anticipated to launch within the next 12 months.

In order to enable the national carrier to start operations, the minister expressed confidence that all pending paperwork and regulatory procedures would be finished on time. Speaking to the media on the fringes of Air Tanzania’s inaugural flight at Kotoka International Airport on January 28, Mr. Nikpe stated that while earlier attempts to revitalize a national airline had failed, the current administration was committed to success. Many attempts have been made to re-establish a national airline since Ghana Airways was dissolved, but these attempts have not been successful.

However, I am convinced that the task team we established under President Mahama is functioning. We shall be celebrating a Ghanaian airline that flies to the rest of the globe within the next year,” he declared. Mr. Nikpe confirmed that the process was moving along steadily but did not provide any additional information regarding the ownership structure or fleet acquisition.
