Emmanuel Appiah, the founder of Emmanuel Army Church, appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on charges relating to offensive conduct that could disturb public peace and publishing false information.

The allegations stem from statements he reportedly made about Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, the head of Glorious Word Power Ministries, which circulated widely on social media. Appiah denied all wrongdoing.

The court approved bail for Appiah, set at GH¢100,000 with three sureties. It also instructed the prosecution to provide the accused with the necessary disclosures related to the case. Proceedings have been scheduled to resume on December 30, 2025.

Authorities reported that on September 4, 2025, a video of Appiah making offensive statements emerged on platforms such as YouTube. The remarks were considered abusive and potentially capable of inciting public disorder. Following the circulation of the recordings, a formal complaint was filed, prompting his arrest.

Forensic analysis of the video and audio content was conducted, and the material was transcribed into written format with assistance from the Ghana Institute of Languages to serve as evidence in court.
