Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has opened up about the challenges he faced early in his career, revealing that producers repeatedly rejected him for roles due to his appearance.
In a recent interview, Salami recounted how he spent years attending auditions, traveling long distances in hopes of securing a breakthrough.
Despite his determination, he was often turned down, with producers telling him that his face and body type did not fit the roles available at the time.
“For three years, I was given only one movie role,” he shared, adding that the rejection took an emotional toll on him.
At one point, he was told outright that his smaller physique was a disadvantage in an industry that favored more muscular actors.
The repeated disappointments pushed him to return to school, a decision that ultimately helped him shape his career in a new direction. His story highlights the struggles many aspiring actors face in Nollywood, where physical appearance can sometimes determine opportunities.
