Adamus Resources Limited has formally petitioned the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources over the revocation of its mining licence, presenting what it describes as compelling evidence to challenge allegations made against the company.
Speaking during an engagement with the Minister, Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources, Angela List, expressed appreciation to the media for what she described as balanced coverage of the issue, while urging the Ministry to carefully consider the company’s submission.
“It is our fervent hope, Honourable Minister, that the petition we have presented today, which details all the documentary evidence refuting the allegations levelled against us by the Minerals Commission, will be considered,” she stated.
Madam List maintained that Adamus Resources is a responsible large-scale mining company and has consistently taken steps to combat illegal mining activities.
“We have presented ample evidence of the actions we have taken over the years to fight illegal mining. As a leaseholder, we have no reason to engage in illegal mining and will never condone it,” she stressed.
She further assured the Ministry of the company’s readiness to cooperate fully with any investigative or supervisory process established to review the matter.
“We will work with the supervisory team to ensure that all concerns are addressed and the air is cleared,” she added.
Responding to the petition, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, reaffirmed the critical role of the Minerals Commission in regulating large-scale mining operations but emphasised his responsibility to ensure fairness and due diligence.
“As a Minister, I respect the work of the Minerals Commission. However, I am exercising my authority to go the extra mile to verify, investigate, and satisfy myself on all the issues raised,” he stated.
The Minister disclosed that an interim management team has been put in place to oversee operations at the mine, ensuring that workers’ jobs, investor interests, and creditor obligations are protected during the review process.
He also indicated that a committee tasked with investigating the matter has been given two weeks to complete its work and submit a report.
The outcome of the review is expected to determine the next steps regarding the status of Adamus Resources’ mining licence.
