The Africa Energy Technology Centre (AETC) has paid a courtesy call on the Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between government and the energy technology sector.
The meeting, held at the Jubilee House in Accra, focused on aligning national policy objectives with emerging opportunities in energy innovation.
Discussions centered on how Ghana can leverage technology, local expertise, and strategic partnerships to play a leading role in Africa’s energy transformation.
According to the President of AETC, Emelia Akumah, close collaboration is essential to creating an enabling environment for research, investment, and industrial growth in the energy sector.
She highlighted the importance of developing local content, nurturing technical talent, and building innovation ecosystems capable of supporting the continent’s long-term energy needs.
Akumah said the Centre is seeking to position Ghana as a regional hub for energy technology advancement and green industrial development.

She noted that inclusive participation must be embedded in programme design and implementation to ensure sustainable impact.
The Vice President commended the AETC’s leadership, describing the institution as an example of how women are shaping conversations and driving innovation within strategic sectors of the economy.
Akumah further noted that “growing prospects within renewable energy, climate-focused technologies, and green value chains are opening new avenues for entrepreneurship, project development, digital energy services, and innovative financing,” she said.
She stressed that with the right institutional backing and partnerships, women and youth can move into leadership and ownership roles across the energy ecosystem.
The AETC expressed appreciation for the Vice President’s support of its initiatives, describing it as a strong signal of government commitment to innovation-led development.
