Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged African leaders to embrace unity as the foundation for the continent’s development, stressing that Africa can only achieve sustainable progress through collective action.

Speaking during the Africa Prosperity Dialogue in Accra, the Vice President said the various calls and policy proposals she outlined during the forum were anchored on the need for African countries to work together rather than in isolation.

According to her, Africa’s economic growth, trade expansion, youth development, and technological advancement depend on stronger cooperation among states, supported by integrated markets and shared development goals.

She emphasised that unity is not merely a political ideal but a practical necessity for addressing the continent’s challenges and unlocking its full potential.

“Africa must unite. This is not about erasing sovereignty, it is about organising our sovereignty in the service of shared prosperity and our market,” she said.

The Vice President urged African leaders to prioritise collaboration, integration, and mutual support to ensure inclusive growth and long-term prosperity across the continent.

“Our borders should connect us. Pan-African Festival of Arts and Culture, through the Year of Return initiative, to the Diaspora Summit, successive governments in Ghana have worked deliberately to bridge our historical and economic divides with the understanding that progress is the strongest when it is collective,” the veep noted.
