Afro Nation Fan Furious After Losing $1,100 Golden Ticket Without Refund

A woman who bought a $1,105 Golden Ticket for the Afro Nation Portugal festival has called out the organizers after her ticket was canceled and she was left with nothing—not even a refund.

She had purchased the high-tier pass for the event scheduled from July 9th to 11th but realized she wouldn’t be able to attend due to personal issues. Hoping to get her money back, she reached out to Afro Nation’s team. Their response? Since she hadn’t paid extra for ticket protection, the only way to recover her money was to transfer the ticket to someone else.

Willing to go through the process, she initiated a transfer request. But days passed, and no confirmation came. She then turned to her bank, American Express, for help. The bank temporarily reversed the charge, but later reinstated it after Afro Nation responded, claiming the charge was legitimate.

With her refund hopes crushed, she tried to salvage the situation by planning a trip to attend the show after all. But by that time, last-minute flights to Portugal had become too expensive.

She then thought of reselling the ticket or giving it away, only to discover that it had already been canceled—something she wasn’t even aware of until she clicked the ticket link and saw its status.

The woman believes the ticket was quietly voided after her bank initially issued a temporary refund. Now, she says, she’s out of both the ticket and her money, with no resolution in sight.

Her frustration has since spilled onto social media, where she accused Afro Nation of blatantly taking her money without offering either access to the festival or a refund. She described the situation as “pure theft” and shared screenshots as proof, including what she says is an email from Afro Nation confirming that her ticket was canceled—but still denying her a refund.

She ended her post with a plea for fairness, urging the organizers to reconsider: “$1,100 is not small change. All I want is my money back since I can’t attend and don’t even have the ticket anymore.”

As of now, Afro Nation has not issued a public response.
