Shatta Wale is back — and he’s making sure everyone knows it.
Just two days after being released from EOCO custody, the Ghanaian dancehall icon made a dramatic return to the streets of Accra. Dressed head-to-toe in purple, he rolled through East Legon in a matching purple Lamborghini Urus, drawing crowds and cameras as he tossed cash from the car to fans who erupted in celebration.
The viral moment, captured on August 23, 2025, marks his first public appearance since being detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The arrest stemmed from an ongoing investigation into his 2019 yellow Lamborghini Urus, which authorities suspect may be linked to a wider financial scandal involving a convicted fraudster in the United States.
Shatta Wale voluntarily appeared at EOCO’s Accra headquarters on August 20 with his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo. After hours of questioning, he was granted bail the following day — initially set at GH¢10 million, later reduced to GH¢5 million with two sureties.
The probe also includes a review of possible breaches of Ghana’s tax laws related to the vehicle. EOCO has confirmed that Shatta Wale was unable to provide full documentation proving lawful ownership, with only a customs form bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, the individual at the center of the U.S. fraud case.
Meanwhile, fans of the “On God” hitmaker have rallied behind him. In another video, supporters were heard chanting “We are not going to jail,” expressing frustration with EOCO’s handling of the case.
Whether it’s a show of defiance or a celebration of freedom, Shatta Wale’s flashy comeback has reignited public interest in the unfolding investigation — and reminded everyone that when it comes
