Former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba has said disgruntled footsoldiers would be forced to ‘name and shame’ appointees who gave abandoned them since NDC returned to power.

In an interview with Bobie Ansah on Accra FM, Akamba shed light on the huge role he played in keeping the party alive during its years in opposition.

“When we went into opposition, some people disappeared. I stayed with the grassroots, moved from region to region, and helped bring the party back to life,” he said.

Akamba expressed frustration that some individuals who now occupy government positions have distanced themselves from the very supporters who fought tirelessly for the NDC’s return to power.

“We cannot struggle together in opposition and then abandon the people after victory,” he emphasised.

He highlighted the importance of branch executives, polling station agents, and loyal foot soldiers in sustaining party success.

“The strength of the NDC lies in its people on the ground. If you forget them, you forget the party,” Akamba added.

Akamba concluded with a firm call for accountability.

“Unity, constant engagement, and respect for the grassroots are non-negotiable. I will hold people to it. Those who forget the base will be publicly called out.”
