The Alagumgube Association is calling on the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to expedite the Bolgatanga chieftaincy dispute, which has been ongoing for several years.
In a social media post, Mr Gabriel Agambila, who is the founder of the Alagumbe group, noted that the house currently sits for just a little over two hours per session, which is insufficient for both parties.
He lamented that the delegation from the feuding parties spends considerable amounts on transport, lodging, and food, and the prolonged process has taken a heavy toll on them.
He has therefore appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to increase the sitting hours from two and a half to at least four hours per day, and also extend the number of sitting days from two to four.
He reasoned that this development would allow the case to be completed in the shortest possible time.
Mr. Gabriel Agambila also appealed to the Ministry of Local Government to upgrade the Upper East Regional capital to metropolitan assembly status, explaining that the regional capital has long been overdue for this elevation.
He explained that the association made the same appeal three years ago and is hopeful that this time our request will be given serious consideration and acted upon.
