Alleged car thieves brutally beaten into coma after violent encounter with angry mob

The death of two alleged car snatchers who were severely beaten by a mob in Port Harcourt has been reported; the Rivers State Police Command has replied to these reports.

After stabbing an E-hailing cab driver at Stadium Road, Elekahia, in the early hours of Monday, March 25, 2025, the suspects allegedly tried to steal a Toyota Corolla automobile from him, according to the information acquired. A mob assembled prior to the police’s arrival as a result of the victim’s cries drawing the attention of neighboring people.

Speaking on behalf of the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the suspects are currently undergoing medical attention at an unidentified Port Harcourt hospital while in a coma. She also confirmed the occurrence.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in charge of the Elekahia Police Division, led operatives who swiftly responded to a distress call, according to additional information provided by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO). The victim, who had been stabbed by the alleged auto thieves, was saved by them.

The victim and the suspects were then taken to the hospital by the law enforcement officials for immediate medical attention.

The suspects had already gone into a coma as a result of the serious injuries that the furious mob had inflicted.
