Alleged iPhone Thief and Buyer Nabbed

The police in the Eastern Region have arrested a suspected motorbike and iPhone thief and its buyer.

The first suspect identified, Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, aged 31, was arrested on February 13, 2026.

According to preliminary investigations, Mohammed and an accomplice hired the services of Muntari Zakari, an okada rider from Kwabenya, to Sibakon Hospital on January 18, 2026.

In the course of the journey, they robbed the okada rider of his iPhone 13 Pro and his unregistered Royal Motorbike.

The victim raised an alarm, leading to the lynching of the accomplice while Mohammed fled the scene.

Personnel from the Eastern Regional PID tracked and arrested him at his hideout in Afienya.

“A search conducted at the abode of suspect Mohammed at Abokobi led to the retrieval of a cutter, two(2) pairs of scissors, two (2) hammers, a hacksaw, a cutlass, a jack knife, a saw and three(3) mobile phones.”

Further investigations led to the arrest of one Kwame Accolor, aged 37, at Anyako in the Volta Region, who had bought the stolen iPhone 13 Pro for an amount of Eight Hundred Ghana Cedis(Gh$800.00).

Following their arraignment in court on March 10, 2026, Mohammed pleaded guilty to robbery.

The court has since deferred sentencing.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Police Command said efforts are underway to retrieve a locally manufactured pistol used in the robbery.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations and ensuring the safety of all.
