Raymond Nana Ebbah is MCE for Amenfi East

A petition from Amenfi East in the Western Region has levelled serious allegations of misconduct against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Raymond Nana Ebbah, and the Western Regional Minister, raising concerns about governance, environmental protection, and internal political relations within the municipality.

The petition, dated February 9, 2026, was submitted by Kofi Agyekum, who identifies himself as the Deputy Constituency Treasurer, and outlines claims of financial mismanagement, conflict of interest in procurement processes, and alleged links to illegal mining activities.

According to the petition, the MCE is accused of misappropriating public funds and allegedly sidelining key party and constituency stakeholders in municipal decision-making processes.

The document claims this has created internal political tensions and weakened coordination between local political leadership and the municipal administration.

The petition further alleges that the Western Regional Minister may have influenced procurement decisions and is accused of using security operatives in ways the petitioner describes as inappropriate in dealing with mining-related issues. However, no independent evidence has yet been publicly presented to substantiate these claims.

Environmental concerns were also raised in the petition, which alleges that individuals connected to the MCE are involved in illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey.

The document claims these activities are contributing to land degradation and pollution of water bodies within the municipality.

The petitioner warned that if the alleged practices are not investigated, they could negatively affect investor confidence, public trust in local governance, and future political prospects within the constituency.

The petition calls on the media and state investigative bodies, including the Office of the President, the Ministry of the Interior, and investigative agencies, to probe the allegations to establish the facts and ensure accountability.

As of the time of filing this report, the MCE and the Western Regional Minister have not publicly responded to the allegations.

It is important to note that these claims remain allegations and have not been proven in any court of law or through any official investigation.
