Renowned journalist Kofi Adoma Nwanwani has shared his deep disappointment over how he was treated by Angel Broadcasting Network’s CEO, Vincent Opare, following a life-threatening attack.
Kofi Adoma, who was shot in the eye at Dormaa, revealed that he continues to suffer from disturbing visions and sleepless nights due to the trauma.
However, what hurt him the most was Vincent Opare’s alleged insensitivity, as he felt the CEO was more focused on promoting the Angel brand’s financial support for him rather than genuinely caring about his well-being.
In contrast, Kofi Adoma expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kwaku Oteng for offering financial aid without hesitation and to Nana Yaa Brefo for securing additional support from businessman Ibrahim Mahama.
He noted that Mahama was even willing to send a private jet for his medical evacuation had he been contacted earlier.
His revelations have sparked discussions about how corporate leaders should support employees during crises. Many have criticized Vincent Opare’s approach, calling for more empathy and responsibility from media executives when dealing with journalists who risk their lives for their work.
The ordeal has also reignited conversations about the safety of journalists in Ghana, with calls for better mental health support and stronger protections for media professionals facing threats and violence.
