Apostle Isaac Owusu Bempah, the head of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has sparked renewed debate following the tragic helicopter accident in Obuasi on August 6, 2025, that claimed eight prominent lives. Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, August 10, the clergyman revealed that he had received a prophetic warning about an aviation disaster long before it occurred and had attempted to alert government officials to take preventive action.
According to Owusu Bempah, he made repeated efforts over several months to communicate the danger but encountered delays and skepticism from the authorities. He claimed that even after involving an archbishop to help relay the warning to the highest office, his advice was consistently ignored. He emphasized that the tragedy could have been averted if the relevant measures had been implemented.
“I tried reaching out for three months, urging them to heed the warning,” the pastor said.
“I even asked the archbishop to communicate with the President to suspend local flights between Accra and Tamale or Accra and Kumasi. Despite these efforts, my messages were dismissed, and the disaster occurred.”
The devastating crash claimed the lives of several high-profile individuals, including Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology; Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice-Chairman of the NDC; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Owusu Bempah expressed profound sorrow over the incident and emphasized that the loss of lives could have been prevented through timely action. His statements have stirred a mixture of reactions, with some members of the public showing sympathy for his claims while others question the reliability of prophetic warnings in influencing government decisions.
