Veteran Ghanaian entertainment analyst Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has identified King Promise as the leading contender for the Artist of the Year award at the upcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Sharing his insights on UTV’s United Showbiz program, Arnold backed his projection with a look at recent trends in how the award has been handed out.
He noted a recurring pattern in the TGMA’s history—where artists who missed out on the top award one year often return to win it the following year.
He cited the 2021 competition between KiDi and Diana Hamilton, where KiDi lost, only to secure the title in 2022. Similarly, Black Sherif, who missed out in 2022, went on to win the award the next year in 2023.
Using this trend as a foundation for his argument, Arnold suggested that King Promise, who lost out to Stonebwoy in the previous edition, is likely to emerge as this year’s winner.
His momentum, growing popularity, and consistent hit releases have strengthened his case as the frontrunner.
The 2025 TGMA ceremony is fast approaching, with a strong lineup of nominees including Stonebwoy, King Paluta, Joe Mettle, and King Promise all eyeing the topmost accolade in Ghanaian music.
As anticipation builds, Arnold’s prediction has fueled further conversation over who will ultimately take home the honor.
