The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that the party will not be intimidated by the recent arrests involving some of its members, insisting that it will continue to engage the public and promote its ideas.
His remarks come amid growing concerns within the NPP over the arrest of some party officials by security agencies.
Speaking at a meeting with student leaders at the University of Ghana on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, ahead of a three-day boot camp organised by the party, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP would respond through political engagement rather than fear.
“We will take the debate and ideas to the country, and we will make our case. We are, however, saying that we will not be intimidated,” he stated.
“You can arrest all of us. We will come back and make our case to the people of Ghana,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia stressed that the party remains focused on connecting with the electorate and presenting its vision and policies despite the challenges confronting some of its members.
