A three-member Board of Directors has been appointed by the owner of Asante Kotoko SC, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to replace the Interim Management Committee (IMC) led by Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua over the past three years.
A statement from the Manhyia Palace, signed by the Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu on Friday, February 27, announced the new appointments.
“Manhyia Palace is pleased to announce that His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has appointed a new Board of Directors for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club,” the statement said.
The newly constituted Board is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of Joshob Construction, Mr James Osei Brown.
He will be assisted by Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure, Mr Kwasi Osei Ofori as Vice-Chairman, while Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rigworld Group, Mr Kofi Amoa-Abban serves as a member.
The statement noted that the new Board is expected to assume its statutory oversight responsibilities immediately.
However, the Interim Management Committee will continue to handle management duties until the end of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
Mr Kofi Badu presided over a meeting at Manhyia Palace where the new Board was formally introduced to the IMC.
He called for cooperation between both bodies to ensure a smooth transition.
The incoming Chairman, Mr Osei Brown, assured the meeting of the Board’s commitment to restoring the club to its rightful status and urged management to intensify their efforts in the remaining weeks of the season.
