Asante Kotoko SC brought excitement to the Manhyia Palace as the club presented two newly acquired trophies to their revered Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on July 30, 2025.
The historic visit followed a string of impressive performances that saw the Porcupine Warriors clinch both the Presidential Cup and the Toyota Trophy in recent weeks. The team, accompanied by its interim management, technical staff, and players, paid homage to the King of the Asante Kingdom to share their success and seek his royal support for the challenges ahead.
In recounting the club’s recent feats, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, detailed the club’s resilience during the Toyota Cup match against South African giants, Kaizer Chiefs. Despite the odds, including biased officiating and the home team’s better preparation—having just returned from preseason in the U.S.—Kotoko held their ground. After a goalless 90 minutes, Kotoko triumphed 3-2 on penalties to lift the trophy.
The club had earlier defeated long-time rivals Hearts of Oak to secure the prestigious Presidential Cup, marking a double celebration for the team and its supporters.
While presenting the trophies, management expressed confidence about Kotoko’s potential in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup. They stopped short of guaranteeing a win but pledged a strong campaign, backed by the momentum of their recent victories.
The visit also served as the official unveiling of Kotoko’s new season jersey before the Asantehene, who gave his blessings for a successful season ahead.
