The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appealed to the government for a timely completion of the first phase of the institution’s teaching hospital following its budgetary approval.
The Asantehene, in a speech delivered at the 59th Congregation on March 28, 2026, stated that the timely completion was essential to enable the facility to commence serving its intended purpose.
“I will be waiting on the President to commission the first of the project by the close of the year, and I’m sure with that. This will significantly enhance the University’s capacity to train health professionals while expanding access to quality healthcare services.”
The King, further, expressed gratitude to the government with regard to the approval of the budgetary allocation for the completion of the first phase of the KNUST Teaching Hospital project.
“I want to place on record my sincere appreciation to the government for this kind gesture,” he stated.
According to Otumfuo, the project represents a significant national investment in education, health care delivery and development as it will serve both as a centre for advanced medical training and research as well as an important healthcare facility for the surrounding communities and the nation at large.
