Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the King of the Asante Kingdom, has instructed Nana Kwaku Ware III, the newly enstooled chief of Antoa, to address unresolved chieftaincy disputes concerning the town’s stool. His Majesty emphasised the need for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into various groups claiming royal entitlement.
The Asantehene noted that these issues have been ignored for years, fostering confusion and attempts to conceal vital historical truths. Otumfuo made it clear that these lingering disputes must be resolved to ensure stability and unity within the Antoa traditional area.
During a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on 24 February 2025, just before Nana Kwaku Ware III took the oath of allegiance, Otumfuo pointed out specific claims that have remained unsettled. Among them is the assertion by descendants of Nkansa Boansi, who claim rightful access to the stool as Antoa royals. The Monarch also referenced descendants of Konadu Sinpinimu, who have similarly laid claim to royal ties.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stressed the importance of transparency in addressing these matters: “Many issues remain unresolved in Antoa. As the newly enstooled chief, you must bring order. Let all the claims be brought forward so we can determine the true lineage. It is crucial to establish the genuine royal line to end these long-standing disputes.”
The directive from the Asantehene highlights his dedication to preserving the integrity of traditional leadership within Asanteman. By calling for clarity on the true royal heirs, Otumfuo aims to prevent future conflicts and strengthen the chieftaincy institution in Antoa.
