The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has taken a break from all official duties effective February 3, 2026.
In furtherance of this, His Majesty departed the country on Tuesday morning.
The leave is expected to enable the Asantehene catch up with the needed respite and refreshment to continue his duties to Asanteman and Ghana at large.
In the Asantehene’s absence, Kumasi was delegated to Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, Bantamahene, while Asanteman was committed to Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Offinsohene.
It follows the celebration of the first Akwasidae Festival on February 1, 2026.
The colourful event drew dignitaries from across the country to the Mnahyia Palace in Kumasi.
His Majesty is expected to return in March.
