The retired Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP Kofi Boakye has revealed the extent of trust placed in him by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, emphasizing the King’s hands-off approach to governance.
Upon his arrival in Kumasi, the Commander sought an audience with Otumfuo, who assured him of his full support and trust. “Kofi,” Otumfuo reportedly said, “I have placed the town in your hands. Your decisions will be honored, and I stand behind you.”
According to the Commander, Otumfuo maintains a consistent stance of support for government officials, including those in security agencies. He stressed that Otumfuo refrains from meddling in their affairs, prioritizing the growth and development of Asanteman above all else.
“Anyone who seeks audience with Otumfuo, be it a soldier, police officer, or BNI agent, is assured that their work is their own responsibility,” the Commander remarked. “Otumfuo’s message is clear: Do what is necessary for the progress of Asanteman.”
