The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, set aside the night of his 27th Anniversary on the Golden Stool for traditional authorities in his jurisdiction.
Following a grand dual commemoration to mark the third Akwasidae Festival of the year and his 27th anniversary during the day, the King held a dinner at his residence for Nananom, who have supported his reign over the years.
The event on April 26, 2026, was used to recognise the loyalty of Nananom in His Majesty’s 27 years of peace-building, development, and cultural preservation.
Cake
The centrepiece of the celebration was a symbolic anniversary cake, meticulously decorated in the rich gold, green, and black of the Asante colours and adorned with traditional symbols of the Kingdom.
His Majesty was firmly supported by his wife, Lady Julia, as they led a select group of dignitaries in a ceremonial cutting of the cake.
The moment served as a tribute to nearly three decades of growth and stability under the King’s leadership.
Attendees
Among the traditional authorities were Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Offinsohene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, Asante Mamponghene, Okofrobuor Dr Nana Yaw Agyei II, Mimhene, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, Asante Mamponghemaa, Nana Adwoa Por Dwamena, Bechemhemaa and Nana Darkowaa Ampem Kyerewaa II, Yamfohemaa.
A particularly moving highlight of the evening saw the traditional wives of the Asantehene take to the dance floor, dancing to one of the favourite tunes of His Majesty in his honour.
Also present at the occasion were Canadian High Commissioner H.E. Myriam Montrat, French Ambassador H.E. Diarra Dimé-Labille, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, and others.
The presence of these international representatives underscored the Asantehene’s global influence and his role as a pivotal figure in both traditional governance and modern diplomacy.
