The African Security and Development Forum (ASDEF) has announced the appointment of its Executive Director, Alhaji Khuzaima Mohammed Osman, as the Taffidan Hausan Africa and Europe, marking what the organisation describes as a significant step in promoting Hausa culture on the global stage.
Alhaji Osman is a member of the Greater Accra Regional Peace Council and the National Secretary of Tijjaniya Muslims of Ghana.
The conferment, which took place during the 9th Annual General Meeting of the Arewarmu Duniyarmu in Abuja on May 2, 2026, places Alhaji Khuzaima in a leadership role that spans both cultural diplomacy and traditional authority across Africa and Europe.
In his new capacity, he is expected to serve as a global ambassador for Hausa identity, with responsibility for promoting the language and its cultural heritage internationally. The role also carries broader expectations tied to leadership within the Hausa traditional system, including fostering unity and representation among diaspora communities.
ASDEF said the appointment reflects Alhaji Khuzaima’s longstanding involvement in regional security, peacebuilding and social development initiatives, particularly across West Africa and the Sahel. The organisation noted that his work in interfaith relations and cross-border cooperation has positioned him as a key advocate for African identity and cultural integration.
The appointment letter was jointly signed by Ambassador Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, National Chairman of the council, and Alhaji Suleiman Isah Darma, National Secretary, underscoring the institutional backing for the new role.
Reacting to the honour, Alhaji Khuzaima expressed gratitude and pledged to uphold the responsibilities associated with the title. “I feel deeply humbled and immensely grateful to Almighty Allah for this honour,” he said, adding that he would work to justify the confidence reposed in him by the council and its leadership.
Support for the appointment has come from a range of organisations and groups, including the Friends of West Africa in the West Network in London and the Tijjaniya Muslim community in Ghana. They commended his commitment to regional development and expressed confidence that his new role would help strengthen ties between African communities and the diaspora.
ASDEF has called on diplomatic missions, cultural institutions and the general public to extend their cooperation to the newly appointed Taffida as he embarks on what it described as a mission of cultural diplomacy and global engagement.
The organisation believes the role will contribute to deepening cultural awareness and preserving the heritage of Hausa communities while enhancing their visibility and influence across continents.
