The Ashanti Sub-Transmission Unit of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has honoured its Head of Public Relations, Collins Manu, for his outstanding role in promoting the activities and enhancing the public image of the unit through strategic media engagement in the Ashanti Region.

The unit said Mr Manu successfully simplified the technical and complex operations of sub-transmission into messages easily understood by the general public, thereby improving public appreciation of the unit’s work and easing stakeholder engagement.

In recognition of his efforts, he was presented with a citation and a plaque.

End-of-year durbar

The award was presented during the end-of-year staff durbar of the Ashanti Sub-Transmission of ECG held in Kumasi, where the General Manager, Peter Kofi Fletcher, singled out Mr Manu for his exceptional performance.

Another staff, Richard Ntiamoah, who was adjudged the Technical Staff of the Year 2025, in recognition of his exceptional technical expertise, commitment and contribution to operational excellence.

The occasion also used to honour some retirees of the company at the regional office, for their dedicated service to the unit and ECG as a whole.

Activities

Mr Fletcher said through deliberate storytelling and sustained media relations, Mr Manu had amplified the work of sub-transmission and ECG across the region.

His communications portfolio also spotlighted innovative interventions such as wildlife mitigation projects, capacity-building initiatives, energy accounting, corporate social responsibility programmes, and practical industrial training for students,” he noted.

The General Manager said by humanising engineering and operational activities, Mr Manu’s work had deepened public understanding of power transmission operations while strengthening public trust and confidence in ECG’s service delivery in the region.

He commended the communications officer for using strategic communication as a tool to bridge the gap between technical operations and public appreciation.
