The government is currently investigating a total of 250 corruption and corruption-related cases as part of its accountability drive, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has confirmed.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews on Monday, January 26, 2026, Kwakye Ofosu said the investigations form part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in public office.
According to him, the NDC introduced Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) as a key mechanism to empower Ghanaians to demand accountability from public office holders.
“The NDC tabled Operation Recover All Loot as a proposition to the people as a main tool through which we will ensure that accountability is demanded from public office holders,” he stated.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained that since the government assumed office, critical steps have been taken to act on allegations of corruption across various sectors.
He disclosed that the ORAL Preparatory Committee compiled data on 250 alleged corruption cases and subsequently submitted a comprehensive report to the Office of the Attorney General for further action.
“They presented a report with the 250 cases, and I can tell you that the Attorney General has commissioned investigations into each of them,” Kwakye Ofosu said.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing all corruption-related cases to their logical conclusion, stressing that no individual would be shielded from accountability.

However, the minister clarified that the report alone cannot be used to prosecute any individual without a proper investigation.
“The report itself could not have formed any legal action against anyone because they are just reports,” he explained.
Assessing Ghana’s fight against corruption, Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated that the scale of waste, abuse, and misappropriation of public resources under the previous administration was significant.

“I think it was obvious that there was simply too much waste, corruption and theft of public resources,” he added.
He further disclosed that investigations have already commenced on several of the cases submitted to the Attorney General.
“I can tell you that progress has been initiated on several of the cases. More than 100 people have been held for questioning, and some were detained for some time,” Kwakye Ofosu said.
According to him, while some suspects have since been granted bail, others are currently before the courts as investigations continue.
