Renowned Kumawood actor Joseph Osei, popularly known as Wayoosi, has urged Ghanaians to avoid allowing their political affiliations to interfere with their daily activities, especially when visiting public places.
In a video shared on his TikTok account, the actor narrated an experience involving an acquaintance named Don 77, who resides in Anyinam, a town in the Eastern Region.
According to Wayoosi, his friend had planned a visit to the Kwahu-Nkwatia highlands ahead of the Easter festivities but encountered an unexpected situation at Rock City Hotel.
While at the luxurious hotel, which is owned by Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Don 77 reportedly wore a headscarf bearing the colors and emblem of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Shortly after, he allegedly contacted Wayoosi to inform him that he had been asked to leave the premises due to his political attire.
Bryan Acheampong, a key figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has held various ministerial positions, including Minister of Food and Agriculture and Minister of Interior during the previous government. His hotel, Rock City, is one of the most prestigious resorts in the country.
Reflecting on the incident, Wayoosi advised Ghanaians to be mindful of their political affiliations when visiting public spaces, cautioning that displaying party colors in certain places might lead to discrimination or unfavorable treatment.
His statement has sparked discussions on political tolerance in Ghana, with many calling for inclusivity and the separation of politics from everyday interactions.
