Baba Jamal and Baba Ali Yussif of the NDC and NPP respectively are leading contenders in the race
It is voting day in the Ayawaso East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.
This bye-election has been occasioned following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, who was a four-term legislator of the area.
Since then, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has held a primaries to elect its candidate for the election, eventually settling on Baba Jamal, a former MP for Akwatia and former High Commissioner of Ghana to Nigeria.
On the other side of the political divide, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Baba Ali Yussif received a unanimous endorsement of his party to represent them in the polls of March 3, 2026.
Other candidates, standing as independents, will also be in the race.
