In a candid social media video, Ayisha Modi, a well-known socialite from the United States, shared a revealing story about her past interaction with legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba.
The video highlighted a deeply personal incident where she helped the iconic artist during a critical time, only to feel abandoned afterward.
According to Modi, over ten years ago, Daddy Lumba fell seriously ill, requiring specialized medication that wasn’t available in Ghana. Eager to help, Modi stepped in and purchased the necessary medication while she was in the U.S.
In addition to the medication, she brought gifts of clothing for the artist as a show of care.
Upon arriving in Ghana, Modi made her way to Daddy Lumba’s home to deliver the items. However, she was told that the musician was asleep.
She handed over the medications and clothes to his wife, explaining that the cost should be reimbursed, as previously agreed. His wife reassured her that Daddy Lumba would make the payment once he woke up.
Days turned into weeks, and despite repeated attempts to follow up, Modi was constantly told that Daddy Lumba was unavailable.
She was left in the dark, never receiving the promised reimbursement or any acknowledgment from the singer. Modi, visibly upset in her video, explained how the lack of gratitude and the ongoing silence left her feeling betrayed.
Her frustration isn’t isolated to just this incident. In a previous conflict with another Ghanaian artist, Obrafour, she revealed that she had helped fund one of his major projects but was met with indifference. For Ayisha, the repeated pattern of ungratefulness is deeply hurtful, especially after she had offered her financial support without hesitation.
Daddy Lumba, meanwhile, has shared in past interviews that he spent years bedridden due to his illness, a time when he felt isolated despite his fame. This revelation has drawn attention to how people in the music industry, despite their public personas, can still experience emotional isolation and neglect.
In her video, Ayisha Modi made it clear that her intent wasn’t to shame Daddy Lumba, but to express the pain she felt after being disregarded, despite her good intentions.
