The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced Baba Ali Yussif, the current Constituency Secretary of the party, as its parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East Constituency by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026.
The decision was made after extensive consultations by the National Executive Committee (NEC) with key stakeholders, and a unanimous recommendation by the Candidate Search Committee, chaired by former General Secretary of the party, John Boadu.
A statement signed and issued by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said based on the Committee’s report, the party last Sunday, convened an expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting and a Delegates Conference in the Constituency.
It said at that meeting, Baba Ali Yussif was unanimously acclaimed by delegates as the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso East by-election.
The party called on all members, supporters, and sympathisers of the NPP to rally solidly behind Baba Ali Yussif, who represented the party’s best opportunity to secure victory in the forthcoming by-election.
The NPP further appealed to the good people of Ayawaso East to vote massively for Baba Ali as their next Member of Parliament, in order to help restore hope, effective representation, and prosperity to the constituency.
