Former Gender Minister, Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo, has expressed her support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that he deserves another opportunity to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and win the 2028 general election.
In an exclusive interview with the media at party’s headquarters, she dismissed concerns about Bawumia’s electability, citing the party’s history where presidential candidates often require multiple attempts before succeeding.
She drew parallels with former President Nana Akufo-Addo, who won the presidency on his third attempt, and only former President John Kufuor, who succeeded on his first try.
“For me, every person deserves a second chance. Nana Akufo-Addo became president after his third attempt. His opponents said he had been cursed and would never become president. But at the right time, God made him Nana Akufo Addo the leader of Ghana. So, why have we gone to an election only once with Dr. Bawumia as our leader, and people are saying we cannot allow him to lead a second time?
Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo emphasized that every individual deserves a second chance, and that Bawumia should not be judged after just one attempt.
