A woman popularly known as “Shortingo,” who is alleged to be closely linked to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has gone viral after posting a strongly-worded video reacting to the recent court ruling involving media personality Kevin Taylor.
In her self-recorded video, “Shortingo,” also known as 8, took direct aim at the current NDC administration, expressing frustration over what she described as a disappointing and dangerous judgment. Her remarks came in response to the court dismissing the case against Kevin Taylor, who had previously made controversial remarks about prominent figures, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to her, the court’s decision to let Kevin Taylor off the hook is a serious misstep that sets a damaging precedent. She argued that the ruling now opens the door for others to launch similar attacks on respected national figures without consequence, further accusing the NDC-led government of indirectly endorsing such conduct.
“Shortingo” didn’t hold back in her criticism of President Mahama and his administration, claiming that many Ghanaians now regret supporting the NDC. In her view, the current government has failed to live up to its promises and is instead leading the country in a direction that contradicts its earlier values.
Her statements have since sparked online debate, with users divided over the political and legal implications of the court’s decision and its broader impact on free speech and public accountability in Ghana.
