Being a nurse affected my creativity so I quit to be full-time comedian – Ben South

Ghanaian content creator Ben South has revealed that he made the decision to quit his job as a psychiatric nurse, opting instead to pursue comedy full-time.

According to South, the shift has not only resulted in a significant increase in income but has also allowed him to prioritize his mental well-being and creative pursuits.

South, who previously worked as a psychiatric nurse earning less than GHS3,000 per month, made the decision to leave his nursing career behind in favor of comedy, a passion that had long been simmering beneath the surface.

Since focusing on his comedic endeavors, South now boasts a monthly income of at least GHS10,000, a testament to the success he has found in his new path.

In explaining his decision, South cited the emotional toll of his nursing job, particularly his work in the emergency department where he was confronted with life-and-death situations on a regular basis.

The weight of witnessing loss of human life and tragedy at the hospital took a toll on his mood and creativity, hindering his ability to produce content that resonated with his audience.
