GHANA’S music industry is coming together in a big way to celebrate one of its most respected voices, Okyeame Kwame, as he marks his 50th birthday with a grand event that promises great music, memories and meaningful impact.

The celebration dubbed OK@50  is themed 50 Songs for 50 Years of Love.

Leading the galaxy of stars to perform on the night are some of Ghana’s most celebrated hitmakers, including KiDi, Kuami Eugene, and Adina Thembi. They will be joined by a strong supporting lineup featuring Sista Afia, Amerado, Abiana, Akwaboah, Flowking Stone, and Afriyie Wutah, among others.

Speaking ahead of the event, Kuami Eugene shared a personal story that reflects the discipline and dedication of the veteran rapper. “Okyeame Kwame is one of the most organised artistes I have ever met. He has a book where he writes every song he has ever recorded. That alone tells you how serious he is about his craft. It is something I have learnt from him.”

Adina also opened up about the special bond she shares with the rapper, describing him as more than just a colleague. “He is family to me. From the early days of my career, he has always been there to guide me. He believes in growth and he pushes you to be better.”

For Amerado, the moment is deeply emotional. The rapper recalled how Okyeame Kwame played a key role in his journey when he first moved to Accra. “When I came to Accra, he was one of the first people I went to see. He welcomed me and later featured on my song ‘Kyereme.’ That opportunity meant everything to me. It helped shape my career.”

Sista Afia also praised the celebrant for his generosity and willingness to support younger talents. “He is someone who genuinely wants to see others win. He creates opportunities and gives people the platform to shine. That is rare.”

Beyond the music and celebration, OK@50 carries a deeper message. The event will also support a charitable cause. Proceeds from the concert will go towards the construction of a paediatric emergency centre at the Manhyia Hospital in Kumasi.
