Bishop Joel Duncan-Williams has paid a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, as part of his two-day evangelical visit to the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
The visit formed part of the Bishop’s broader engagement with key stakeholders in the region, aimed at strengthening faith-based collaboration for national development.
The meeting, held in Cape Coast, offered both leaders an opportunity to discuss the church’s role in shaping societal values and advancing community growth.
Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere expressed his profound appreciation to the Bishop for the visit and commended his continued spiritual outreach, particularly among the youth.
The Minister underscored the pulpit’s critical role in driving positive behavioural change and called on pastors and religious leaders to use their platforms to promote environmental cleanliness across communities.
According to him, men of God command significant moral authority and can shape mindsets and attitudes at scale.
He noted that beyond spiritual guidance, the church can play a transformative role in encouraging responsible citizenship and community pride.
The Regional Minister also emphasised the need to shift focus toward practical skill acquisition among young people.
He urged the Bishop to champion initiatives that encourage youth to develop vocational and entrepreneurial skills alongside formal education, stressing that hands-on competencies are essential to reducing unemployment and accelerating regional development.
In response, Bishop Joel Duncan-Williams assured the Minister of his commitment to advancing the agenda.
He pledged to use his ministry and influence to support cleanliness campaigns, youth empowerment, and skills development initiatives.
The Bishop further expressed his willingness to collaborate with the Regional Coordinating Council and other stakeholders to deliver impactful programmes in the region.
The courtesy call concluded on a note of partnership and shared responsibility, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to working together to advance the Central Region and Ghana at large.
