Ghana’s own musical powerhouse, Black Sherif, has earned a coveted nomination for Best International Act at the upcoming 2025 BET Awards.
The highly anticipated ceremony is set for June 9 and will take place at the iconic Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
This latest recognition is yet another remarkable achievement for the 22-year-old hitmaker, who continues to make waves far beyond Ghana’s borders.
His inclusion in the lineup of global stars comes ahead of the BET Awards’ 25th anniversary celebration, which this year centers on honoring culture’s biggest contributions to entertainment.
Black Sherif, born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, is in strong competition with fellow international heavyweights, including South Africa’s Tyla, France’s Aya Nakamura, UK’s Central Cee and Raye, Nigeria’s Tems and Ayra Starr, and Brazil’s Karol Conká.
His nomination follows a stellar run of accomplishments over the past year. Highlights include the release of the “Oh Paradise (Remix)”, a triumphant debut US tour that sold out major cities such as New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, and a headline slot at Afro Nation Portugal 2024.
With global momentum firmly on his side, Black Sherif’s nomination is not just a nod to his musical talents but a celebration of Ghana’s growing influence on the world music stage.
